My work often begins with a question: What happens if I try this? That might mean rolling paint onto canvas, cutting up a drawing, using neon colors, or weaving painted papers together in unexpected ways. Through these processes, I discover new relationships between color, texture, structure, and chance.
Whether I am weaving newspaper, transforming painted papers, constructing pouches from acrylic-painted canvas, or exploring other materials, I am interested in how familiar materials can be altered and reassembled into something new. Cutting, weaving, layering, folding, and reshaping are central to my practice.
Rather than following a predetermined path, I allow the work to evolve through a dialogue with the materials themselves. Transformation lies at the heart of what I do. As materials shift from one form to another, unexpected images, structures, and connections emerge.
Each piece is an invitation to look beyond the surface and discover new possibilities within the familiar.
Big News! I was recently honored by Art Center Sarasota as one of their Centennial Artists, alongside two other remarkable artists.
SRQ Magazine recently featured the honor, including a photo of the three of us at the Art Center. I have included the link to the article below.
